Project Overview
The proposed Riverside Private Hospital is currently awaiting approval of its Development Application which was made to Mackay Regional Council in September 2024.
The development proposal is for a five-storey, 60 bed facility with six intensive care rooms, five operating theatres, consulting suites, a café, and ancillary tenancies including x-ray, pathology, and pharmacy services.

Innovative Facilities
The submitted DA includes plans for a Cardiac Catheterisation Lab and an Intensive Care Unit, a level of care that has not previously been available in the private sector in Mackay. Other planned facilities include robotic surgery operating theatres, advanced CT scan and MRI radiology services, a pathology lab, a pharmacy, and a range of specialist healthcare consulting facilities.
The new hospital will also provide additional work opportunities for health providers and practitioners while creating positive health outcomes for the community and attracting high-calibre medical professionals to the area.
